Job Description

The Interventional Cardiology APP provides advanced clinical care to adult cardiovascular patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings under the supervision of collaborating interventional cardiologists. This role includes patient evaluation, peri-procedural management, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care across the continuum of cardiovascular services. This position will provide support at two locations: Elkins, WV (clinic and Davis Medical Center) and Weston, WV (clinic and Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital). The PA functions as an integral member of the cardiovascular team, supporting high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions. Duties Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations Round daily with attending interventional cardiologists and multidisciplinary care teams Monitor and manage post-procedural patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, vascular access site assessments, and complication surveillance Order, review, and interpret diagnostic testing including ECGs, telemetry, laboratory data, echocardiograms, and stress testing Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Coordinate discharge planning, medication reconciliation, follow-up care, and patient education Respond to inpatient cardiovascular consultations and urgent patient needs Participate in call coverage, weekend rotations, and hospital-based cardiovascular emergencies as assigned Education Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program Master's degree required Licensure and Certification Current Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner license in West Virginia Nationally accredited certification as
Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities Collaboration:
Interacts with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs and collaborates with other providers to identify changing patient needs. Identifies teaching/learning needs of patients, documents patient care services in the electronic health record.
Communication:
Exhibits skill in the management of conflict situations, functions so as to promote trusting relationships and demonstrates open and honest communication at the unit level. Participates in performance improvement activities as appropriate and promotes and fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and excellence among staff.
Job Skills:
Conducts physical examinations, initiates testing and treatment based on scope of practice, identifies normal and abnormal findings and acts upon abnormal findings accordingly. Refers patients to appropriate specialists and/or allied health professionals and provides counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems.
Safety:
Protects patients, visitors and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, and identifying patients using two identifiers (i.e., name and date of birth) prior to providing any treatment or procedure. Consults supervising provider as needed.
Scope of Practice:
Provides patient care based on privileges as approved by the Medical Staff office.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.

  • Basic Life Support
  • Must possess or obtain basic life support (BLS) certification within the probationary period and maintain certification.
