Job Description

Outpatient Clinic RN in Buffalo Wyoming This job is full-time (32-40 hours/week), M-F with occasional Saturday morning shifts. Hours are 8
  • 5 pm.
Pay is dependent on experience. Clinic nurses are at the forefront of patient care, supporting patients, doctors, and other medical staff through observation and assistance. They assist the physician in the clinical assessment and treatment of patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics and their families. Applicants should have an unencumbered RN license, and the following skills: Demonstrates on-going ability to meet public and patient needs to ensure patient confidence and confidentiality. Greets patient and public with sincere interest in their need to see the physician and make contact in the facility. Presents and maintains pleasant approach. Has ability to handle stressful and emergency situation calmly. Interviews each patient on arrival to exam room obtaining important information (i.e.) medicine allergies, medications patient takes, chief complaint(s) and brief medical history. Respect right to privacy if patient refuses to give information. If patient does not know names and doses of medication encourage them to call the office at a later date or mail information to the provider. Suggest they bring prescribed medications with them when seeing the provider. Bring appropriate equipment to exam room (i.e. eye tray, liquid nitrogen, etc.) as needed. Prepare patient for exam as appropriate per provider preference. If patient presents for complaints of UTI symptoms, collect urine sample, enter UA order per provider preference, and deliver sample to lab. Obtain and document in EHR vital signs on all patients as appropriate. Maintain proficiency in triage of patients who present to clinic or via phone to those who call. Complete TCM (transitional care management) phone calls and facilitate appropriate follow-up and coordination of care after. Assist office in maintaining adequate patient records through thorough documentation and communication. Facilitate scheduling of outpatient radiology studies with radiology department and other outpatient procedures with appropriate department. Assist with scheduling of patients with appropriate provider, as needed. Coordinate with scheduling staff. Demonstrate on-going ability to administer medication in a safe manner. Awareness of normal dose, route of administration, indications for use and side effects of medications. Administers IV medications. Demonstrates ability to perform necessary skills and procedures for patients including IV starts, foley catheter insertions, EKGs, NSTs, cognitive assessment, and other requirements as ordered by provider in a safe and appropriate environment for patient. Maintain adequate awareness of patient education and referral resources. Possesses understanding of clinic activities and routines. Ensure clean, orderly, and appropriately supplied work environment including exam rooms, procedure rooms, common areas, and workstation. Maintain adequate patient records via facility EMR to ensure comprehensive, safe, effective patient care.   • Must maintain a high level of attention to detail as clinic nurses listen to patient complaints, observe changes in their health and provide treatment information to other care providers. Critical Thinking
  • Must act in a timely response to changing patient circumstances and the individual must be skilled at rapidly assessing situations and making critical decisions about patient care. Communication Skills
  • Effective communication is expected in this role as frequent interactions occur with patients and vital information is conveyed to doctors and patient representatives.
Performs additional duties deemed necessary to achieve quality patient care as requested by the physicians or administration. This position is trained for and must practice Universal Precautions, OSHA Classification Category I. RN with current license in State of Wyoming that understands and follows nurse practice act and rules and regulations of practice. Preference to clinical practice with two years experience preferred.
