Job Description

Cardiology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (NP/PA) Position Summary The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients across the continuum of care. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, working collaboratively with cardiologists and multidisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care. Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - Wyoming State Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant (PA) - Wyoming Board of Medicine Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate and manage patients with cardiovascular conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, and lipid disorders Perform comprehensive history taking, physical examinations, and ongoing patient assessments Develop and implement individualized treatment and management plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Provide inpatient and/or outpatient cardiology care depending on practice setting Interpret diagnostic studies such as electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, stress tests, and laboratory results as appropriate Manage medication therapy and monitor treatment effectiveness Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle modification Participate in care coordination, transitions of care, and discharge planning Communicate effectively with cardiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise or collaborate with clinical staff and learners as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current NP or PA certification and licensure in the applicable state Eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging DEA registration or eligibility Prior experience or training in cardiology preferred Skills and Competencies Strong clinical knowledge of cardiovascular disease management Excellent assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills Ability to manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions Strong communication and patient education skills Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care Work Environment Hospital inpatient units, outpatient cardiology clinics, procedural areas, or a combination thereof Schedule may include weekdays, weekends, or call coverage depending on practice needs Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments Manual dexterity for clinical examinations and procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and interpretation of diagnostic data
