Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in medical-surgical care to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive clinical expertise, a passion for patient-centered care, and the ability to adapt to diverse medical environments. As a Registered Nurse - Med-surg, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing services, coordinating patient care plans, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. Your role will be pivotal in promoting recovery, managing acute conditions, and supporting patients through their treatment journeys across various settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities. Duties Provide comprehensive nursing assessments through detailed physical examinations, vital sign monitoring, and patient history collection to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy when applicable. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information meticulously, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform wound care procedures including suturing and ostomy management while maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent infections. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and imaging procedures like sonography or mammography as needed. Manage acute pain and provide critical care support in emergency situations, including airway management and ventilator support within Level I or Level II trauma center environments. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute care services across settings like hospice, memory care, or home health. Educate patients and their families on health coaching topics including medication administration, nutrition, chronic disease management, and rehabilitation exercises. Experience Proven clinical experience in medical-surgical units with familiarity in acute care environments such as ICU or emergency room settings. Demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia, and those requiring specialized memory or behavioral health care. Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is essential for efficient documentation and patient record management. Knowledge of trauma medicine protocols including Level I/II trauma center procedures and trauma-related ICD coding (ICD-10). Experience performing advanced procedures such as catheterization (cardiac or urinary), tube feeding management, or dialysis support is highly desirable. Familiarity with infection control practices aligned with NCQA standards and infectious disease protocols enhances quality of care delivery. Background in working within hospital medicine units or outpatient clinics that emphasize urgent care or primary care services is advantageous.
