Job Summary:
The Nurse will work with Early Intervention Services staff and the Director of Health and Nutrition to coordinate and oversee the health-related needs of children aged 0-5 receiving services through special education services under IDEA and Part B and C. This position ensures that medical and health-related supports are appropriately integrated into Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), Individual Support Plans (ISPs), and other health care plans. The nurse will be responsible for the health and safety information of children who are attending the Little Explorer's Classroom to comply with standards from the Department of Family Services Child Care regulations. The nurse also serves as a liaison among families, healthcare providers, educational teams, service coordinators, and program staff to promote the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities. The nurse will also assist with screenings.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of developmental disabilities and associated medical conditions. Knowledge of nursing assessment, care planning, and case management principles. Familiarity with IEP, IFSP, ISP, Medicaid, and developmental disabilities service systems. Strong understanding of applicable healthcare, education, and privacy regulations. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse families, professionals, and community partners. Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, conduct assessments, or provide consultation. May require lifting, bending, and assisting individuals with mobility needs consistent with nursing responsibilities. Attends required training sessions. Promotes positive public relations within the work setting and community. Recruits children for the program within the guidelines established by ACF and WCFD Inc. Performs other duties as assigned by the Board or its designee. Able to perform the essential functions of the position, as defined in the job description, without presenting a danger to either self or others, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must have an employment physical and TB risk assessment prior to working with children. Must have AHA CPR and First Aid Training completed within 90 days, unless otherwise specified by the supervisor. Reliable, organized, and detail oriented Must possess strong problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately Excellent interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with individuals with diverse ranges of personalities, backgrounds, and knowledge bases Strong communication skills are essential to interact with staff, children, families, and the broader community. Must have effective stress management strategies and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations. Flexibility is key; the ability to adapt to changing daily routines is required. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wyoming-Required Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current CPR certification. Additional certifications related to developmental disabilities, pediatrics, public health, or case management preferred. Minimum of two years of nursing experience. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, special healthcare needs, or pediatric populations preferred. Experience participating in IEP, IFSP, or interdisciplinary care planning processes preferred. Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age (state requirements). Must be willing to attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc. WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
