Job Description
Registrar -
Patient Access SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Patient Access/Central Scheduling Manager, Main Registration Supervisor and/or ER Registration Supervisor, the Registrar is responsible and accountable for registering patients at all points of hospital admission. The Registrar may facilitate the date of service admission of patients into the Emergency Department (ED), Breast Imaging Center, Pre-Surgical Testing as well as Main Registration. The Registrar may also facilitate the pre-registration of all indicated patients via phone call registration prior to the date of service. The Registrar is responsible for ensuring that all regulatory and insurance specific documentation is presented to each patient for signature. The Registrar is responsible for verifying that, if indicated, medical necessity has been met. If medical necessity has not been met, the Registrar is responsible for the patient notification of all non-covered items and obtaining the patient s signature on the Advanced Beneficiary Notice of Non-coverage (ABN). The Registrar is responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility as well as the calculation of the patient s estimated responsibility and the notification of the responsibility to the patient. The Registrar is responsible for ensuring that all patient registration information is accurately verified 100% of the time.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalentExperience:
12 to 18 months related healthcare and/or customer service.Other:
Prefer applicant will have a working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD 10, CPT and HCPCS coding basics. Adaptability to multiple systems is essential.Responsibilities:

The Registrar is responsible for asking and collecting payment (i.e, POS Collection) if payment is due, or advising patient of various payment options, if necessary. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure.Work Environment :
