Applicants must pass both exams to be considered.•Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform technical duties in the management of the student information database for a comprehensive high school; manage the accuracy of the database to compile and develop statistical reports for the District Office, school administrators, Board, counselors and teachers; maintain confidentiality of student information. Manage the school database by enrolling new students' data and maintaining addresses and phone numbers current on students; update student schedules to assure data is current. Input and maintain the master schedule into the computer system; input the students' course requests; run scheduling simulations; correct and modify student schedules for the next year; prepare student schedules for distribution to students at the beginning of each term. Provide reports, labels, spreadsheets and other documents as needed for school personnel; prepare a variety of reports and assure accuracy of data; prepare reports for outside agencies including educational institutions as requested. Assist in analyzing transfer students' transcripts and prepare site transcripts to include related information as assigned; meet with students and schools to clarify grade report, credits and class related information. Coordinate departments to comply with project time lines throughout the school year. Monitor teachers in reporting grades via web; review for errors; print reports and make corrections as needed; generate report card reports and distribute to Principal and staff. Schedule and maintain the School Service Program for student aides by taking teacher requests and matching them with students in the program and then recording their grades. Maintain records on students on caregiver affidavits and intra- and inter-district transfers. Reclassify students who have not met the required amount of units to continue into the next grade level; review student transcript and enter reclassified students into the database. Prepare calendar for scheduling; obtain corrections to the program planning guide from department chairpersons; update the program planning guide and send it out for publishing; create course selection sheets for students to choose classes; assure materials are available according to established time lines. Communicate with staff and parents in person or on the telephone to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns and coordinate activities; assist staff and others in the proper operation of the system. Operate a computer and assigned office equipment; troubleshoot equipment or software malfunctions and perform minor maintenance as needed.OTHER DUTIES
Assist counselors and others in accessing data in the student computer system; assist others with special projects utilizing the student information system. Attend advisory meetings and others as requested. Perform other duties, related to the job, as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Student information system, spreadsheet and data processing systems. Graduation requirements, high school curriculum and other District and school policies related to the enrollment of students. Operation of a computer and other office equipment. Interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy. Oral and written communication skills. Correct English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Statistical record-keeping and report-writing techniques. Basic mathematical calculations.ABILITY TO

The duration of the eligibility list is 6 months unless extended by the Executive Director of Classified Human Resources and the Personnel Commission. Applicants selected for permanent or substitute assignments are required to pay for fingerprinting services and obtain Tuberculosis results prior to beginning work. Hayward Unified School District does not pay for employee health and welfare benefits. Full-time employees are required to purchase medical health benefits. Half-time and less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. Health benefit costs are 100% employee paid through a pre-tax payroll deduction. Employees may opt out of health coverage upon presentation of proof of alternate coverage. Dental coverage is mandatory for all employees working 20 hours per week, or more, regardless of outside coverage. Less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis.
