Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team! Your expertise in medical administrative support, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and medical billing will help deliver top-quality care and streamline daily workflows. Duties Greet patients warmly, manage appointment scheduling, and coordinate patient intake processes using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing and claims processing Manage medical records by filing, retrieving, and updating patient information in various EHR systems such as Meditech, Epic, or Dentrix Assist with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure precise documentation for billing purposes Handle medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security Support front desk operations by answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and managing appointment reminders Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with healthcare standards; assist with care plan documentation and review of clinical notes Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite to prepare reports, correspondence, and administrative documents; operate office equipment such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix dental management software when applicable Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and CPT coding practices Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of patient information Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy clinic environment Strong communication skills—bilingual abilities are a plus—and exceptional customer service orientation Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and specialized dental or medical office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred Experience with insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures is highly desirable Prior clinic or dental office experience is advantageous; familiarity with hospital or healthcare facility operations is a plus Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering compassionate care through efficient administrative support!
