Control number 867299600 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Videos Duties Help Advanced MSA's Determines dental eligibility through interpretion of Federal regulions, monitors the stus and progress of work, and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems th may arise. Gives on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Provides informion via telephone and in person to the general public, members of the professional staff, civilian, and military personnel in response to inquiries regarding appointments. Advanced MSA's enters, manipules, and retrieves informion and da from the Vista and other clinical informion systems as approprie to area assigned. Determines whether a veteran is eligible for dental care, and if eligible, determines the type of dental eligibility cegory he or she falls under. Enters dental eligibility informion into Dental Record Manager. Completes mini registrion and chart compilion. Complete requested forms, manually or using automed systems, for individual pient orders for blood work, X-rays, radiion therapy, respirory or ventiled care consults and other requests as required. Schedules and coordines appointments for pients with various clinics, ensuring all trement requested by the physician has been scheduled, and rescheduling appointments when necessary. Coordines the scheduling to avoid conflicts in different clinic schedules. Ensures appointments are timely and in accordance with physicians' requests. Explains necessary test preparions to pients. Receives telephonic requests for informion and transmits requests to the approprie physician. Assists clinic administror and other personnel with workload accountability informion. Obtains and reviews medical records of pients prior to scheduled appointments. Records a variety of physicians' orders on a timely basis to various charts, identifying abbreviions comprising medicion orders. Assures proper completion and filing of original medical documention and forms in records prior to forwarding to medical records room. Ensures the pient completes all necessary forms prior to being seen by the provider. Functions as co-ADPAC coordinor for Dental Service. Maintains all pients' records, either electronic or paper, according to regulion insuring each entry contains proper pient and health care proper identificion. Correctly files original medical documention in the pient record and copies of medical documention into research files as necessary. On discharge, transfer, or completion of appointment verifies and assures th the record of the pient trement is administrively complete. Performs Quality Assurance monitoring using approprie tools regarding the completion and contents of the pient record.

Advanced Medical Support Assistants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Policy. Creditable Experience Knowledge of MSA Practices. To be creditable, the experience must have demonstred the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) associed with current MSA responsibilities or an equivalent administrive pient support role in a non-VA medical inpient or outpient setting. Experience sisfying this requirement may be paid/non-paid employment as an MSA or an equivalent position in a non-VA hospital or clinic setting. Quality of Experience. Qualifying experience must be a level comparable to MSA experience or equivalent administrive clinical support role in a non-VA medical inpient or outpient setting] the next lower grade level. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, administrive independence, complexity (difficulty), and a range of varieties as described in this standard, the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent least 25% of the time . Part-Time Experience. Part-time experience as an MSA or equivalent administrive pient support in a non-VA medical inpient or outpient setting is creditable according to its relionship to the full-time workweek. For example, an MSA employed 20 hours a week, or on a 1/2-time basis, would receive one full-time workweek of credit for each two weeks of service. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion).

Experience gained while working in a medical office, hospital, inpient/outpient clinic, Ancillary Service, Call Center, Care of Community Care, Consult Scheduling, Direct Scheduling, Interdisciplinary Coordined Care Delivery Models, PACT TEAMLETS, Pient Systems, Radiology/Imaging/Nuclear Medicine, Specialty Clinics, Veterans Appointment Request, VistA Scheduling Graphical User Interface (VS GUI), Ward. Applying administrive judgment, the use of wide range of clinical flow processes reling to access to care across multiple clinical, specialties. Recommends changes to existing clinic procedures based on current guidelines.
