Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Patient Financial Services Representative to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves managing patient accounts, facilitating accurate billing processes, and ensuring smooth communication between patients and the medical billing department. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical coding, insurance procedures, and financial record management to support our commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and financial clarity. Duties The Customer Service Representative serves as the primary liaison between callers and the medical group, handling inquiries across healthcare issues, hospital services, health plans, and community resources. This role requires strong communication skills, problem‑solving ability, and knowledge of healthcare systems to assist patients, providers, and the public with accurate information and support.
Call Handling:
Respond to inquiries from members, providers, and the public regarding healthcare services, billing, and eligibility.
Information Support:
Provide accurate details about hospital services, medical staff, health plans, and community programs.
Claims Assistance:
Resolve billing issues, assist providers with claims status, and escalate errors to supervisors.
Referral & Authorization:
Support utilization management by assisting with referral and authorization status.
Eligibility Verification:
Confirm member and provider eligibility with health plans.
Documentation:
Record call details accurately in databases and maintain confidentiality.
Community Outreach:
Provide information on screenings, promotional events, and educational programs.
Team Collaboration:
Work cooperatively with management, doctors, and staff; attend meetings and contribute to departmental goals.
Compliance:
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.
MUST HAVE
Must have at least 1+ year of medical billing and collections experience Must have experience working with patient accounts, insurance billing, collections, or accounts receivable in a hospital Should have experience verifying insurance eligibility, updating insurance information, and resolving billing issues Must be comfortable speaking with patients regarding billing questions, balances, payment arrangements, and account disputes Knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance carriers, and basic medical coding is highly preferred EPIC experience is a major plus and should be prioritized when available
Shift Timing:
7:30AM-4PM Weekly schedule: M-F CH1
Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
