Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Front Desk Specialist! In this vital role, you will be the welcoming face of our medical facility, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient service. Duties Greet patients warmly and efficiently check them in and out using various EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle authorization requests to ensure seamless billing processes. Manage appointment scheduling through medical office management software, coordinate follow-up visits, and handle cancellations or rescheduling with professionalism. Collect and review patient documentation, including medical histories, care plans, and prior records, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assist with medical billing and coding tasks by applying CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to facilitate accurate claims submission. Maintain patient records meticulously, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security. Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, direct calls appropriately, and handle inquiries efficiently. Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry using 10-key typing skills, and managing electronic health information systems like Eaglesoft or Hospital systems. Experience Proven experience working in a medical front desk or healthcare administrative support role within a clinic or dental office environment. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), Medicare procedures, insurance verification processes, and healthcare documentation review. Demonstrated ability to manage medical records accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and health information management software. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Prior clinic or dental office experience involving medical billing, scheduling, patient intake procedures, and customer service is highly desirable.
