Position Overview:
The Admissions Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment. This role is responsible for guiding clients and referral sources through the admissions process with professionalism, empathy, and urgency. The Admissions Coordinator ensures timely screenings, accurate documentation, insurance verification, and coordination with clinical and operations teams to facilitate safe and appropriate admissions in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Admissions & Intake
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming calls, emails, and electronic referrals
- Conduct initial screenings to determine clinical appropriateness
- Collect and verify demographic information
- Schedule assessments and coordinate admission dates and logistics
- Maintain timely follow-up with prospective clients, families, and referral sources
- Communicate program expectations, policies, and next steps clearly and compassionately Insurance & Financial Coordination
- Verify insurance benefits as required
- Collaborate with billing and utilization review teams when applicable
- In coordination with billing, explain financial responsibilities, co-pays, deductibles, and
- payment options Clinical & Operational Coordination
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to confirm appropriate level of care
- Coordinate with clinical, housing, and transportation teams
- Ensure pre-admission documentation is completed Customer Service & Engagement
- Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive communication
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Build positive relationships with referral partners Represent the organization's mission and values
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED 1-2 years' experience in admissions, intake, healthcare, or behavioral health Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to manage high-volume calls EHR and basic computer proficiency

Pay:
