Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patient referrals, ensuring seamless coordination between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Your expertise will help streamline the referral process, improve patient access to care, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. Responsibilities Manage and process patient referrals efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance verification procedures to facilitate smooth authorization processes Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy Collaborate with medical offices, specialists, and insurance providers to coordinate appointments and resolve any issues promptly Utilize medical terminology, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical coding standards to ensure proper documentation Assist with office tasks such as updating medical records, scheduling appointments, and managing referral logs Stay current with managed care policies and procedures to optimize referral workflows and enhance patient satisfaction Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical or dental office setting is highly preferred Strong knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification, and medical billing practices Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and data security Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), and medical records management Experience with medical office software and electronic health records (EHR) systems Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Join our team as a Referral Specialist if you're eager to make a meaningful impact by facilitating smooth healthcare experiences.
