Job Description:
Provides efficient services to patients and caregivers, including accurate documentation of visits and medical records. Utilizes registry to optimize pre-visit planning for patient care needs. Verifies and updates all demographic data in the electronic health record, identifying communication and financial barriers. Promotes, advocates, and collaborates to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Delivers relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity. Cross-trains to all clerical operations and supplements office specialist duties as needed. Maintains adequate supplies and clean work and patient areas to facilitate smooth operations. Seeks experiences to maintain skills and competence in role performance. Uses quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and experiences. Participates in clinic-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. Accurately gathers and processes information for medical records, referrals, billing, and treatment purposes. Schedules and confirms patient appointments, maintaining accurate records in the computer system. Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to use discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature.
  • Ability to respond to ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and act accordingly.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills; able to assimilate and react appropriately to a variety of stimuli incoming at one time.
  • Self-motivated and quick thinker.
  • Computer skills including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of HIPAA requirements.
  • Basic understanding of medical and insurance terminology.
  • Bi-lingual (English required and Spanish preferred), both written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Experience working with and obtaining insurance authorizations.
  • Read and understand medical terminology.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Customer relations skills.
  • Proficiency in grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Keyboarding skills.
  • Computer visual skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Word, email, and Excel.
Education:
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field of Study:
    In Culinary Arts Work Experience:
    • 1+ customer service experience in customer service setting [Required]
    • 1+ customer service/clerical experience in a medical office setting [Required]
