Exempt Description The primary function of this position is to coordinate and to provide support services for military and veteran service members at GCSC. While providing assistance to students seeking guidance regarding programs offered by the Department of Defense, State of Florida, The Department of Veterans Affairs, and other agencies, the position is responsible for counseling students on TA/VA benefits, submitting student enrollment and compliance information to the VA. This position supervises VA work study students and is a member of the Military and Veteran Services team. Examples of Duties Advises veterans and dependents on educational benefits and services to which they may be entitled and/or eligible. Assists students in the application process for TA and VA benefits. Refers students to specific student support services as needed. Provides academic advising follow-up for military, veteran, and dependent students. Ensures that enrollment and changes in enrollment of eligible students is certified to veteran's affairs. Maintains appropriate student records in compliance with Veterans Administration rules and regulations. Regularly audits veteran records in compliance with veteran's affairs requirement Requests approval from the state for new educational programs and also for any changes to existing programs. Provides the state approving agency with certified copies of current college catalog, handbook and academic calendar. Organizes payment authorizations from third party agencies and provides that information to the business office, bookstore, and financial aid. Prepares and submits various reports to the state approving agency for veteran affairs. Supervises VA federal work study students. All other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelors' degree required from an institutionally accredited college or university.
