Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a friendly, professional, and patient-focused Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join our growing team. The Patient Service Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, helping to create a welcoming and positive experience while supporting efficient front-office operations. This position is responsible for scheduling appointments, patient registration, insurance verification, and providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced specialty healthcare environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Relations Greet patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner. Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a compassionate and patient-centered approach. Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries promptly and professionally. Assist patients with scheduling, registration, and office-related questions. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Registration & Scheduling Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments. Verify patient demographics and update information accurately within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Complete patient registration and ensure all required documentation is obtained. Collect and scan insurance cards, identification, referrals, and other required paperwork. Coordinate appointments, testing, and referrals as directed by providers and clinical staff. Insurance & Financial Responsibilities Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient appointments. Obtain and document referrals and authorizations as required. Collect co-pays, deductibles, balances, and other patient payments. Process receipts and maintain accurate payment records. Explain basic insurance and billing information to patients when appropriate. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Manage incoming and outgoing faxes, mail, and correspondence. Ensure waiting and reception areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming. Assist with medical records requests and documentation management. Support providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed. Participate in departmental meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of medical office, healthcare, or customer service experience. Experience with appointment scheduling and patient registration. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures. Strong computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Preferred Previous experience in a specialty medical practice. Insurance verification and authorization experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Experience with Paylocity, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar healthcare software. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally. Ability to use computers, telephones, and office equipment for extended periods.
