EpvS Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for coordinating, verifying, distributing, and managing all referral services to provide a smooth process for our patients. Mastered basic job duties and completed competencies. Competent in EHR. Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly. Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals. Assemble information concerning patient's clinical background, referral needs, and provide appropriate clinical information to specialist. Act as a point of contact for patients with questions and/or concerns related to regards to referrals and authorizations required. Review details and expectations about the referral with patients. Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met. Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis, as requested/required. Proficient working in at least one of the following: Referral Consults, Referral Ancillary, Authorizations, Diagnostics, and Non-TVH. Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner meeting or exceeding department benchmark. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements:
High school diploma Associate's degree from a community/junior college or medical assistant certification completion preferred 0 to 1 year of healthcare referrals/medical office experience Knowledge of billing practices and clinic policies and procedures. Knowledge of coding and clinic operating policies. Proficient skills in computer programs. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong customer service focus. Ability to take and follow through with tasks and responsibilities. Ability to read and interpret medical charts. Ability to examine documents for information necessary for referrals. Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stand for extensive periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Combination of standing, sitting, bending, and reaching associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity using EMR and computers for prolonged periods of time using fingers to keyboard, handle or feel. Workload will be heavy at times.
Work Environment:
