Job Description

The Admissions Representative is responsible for gathering demographic and insurance information from the patients of Teton Valley Health Care in an accurate and timely manner. The Admissions Representative arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of patients. She/he ensures that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. This role interviews incoming patients or representatives and enters information required for admission into the computer database. The Admissions Representative appropriately schedules patients and collects payments for services. This role distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments and participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. This role demonstrates support for the Medical Center's mission, values and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors.
Job Description:
Performs patient check-in/ check-out processes using tools provided, routing appropriate copies and forms to designated departments. Interviews patients or their representatives for obtaining new patient personal information or verifying patient's information already on file, including emergency numbers, insurance, Portal invitation, and consent paperwork. Obtains signatures on Conditions of Admission and initiates the Advance Directive process. Communicates with Nursing Services when no Advance Directive is available. Flexibility with shifts to ensure both Driggs and Victor Clinic, as well as our Business Office, are well-staffed. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Ensures confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations. Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisors, co-workers, physicians, nurses and the public. Interacts professionally with the community, patients, and staff to provide explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary. Answers telephone calls in a polite and professional manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel, including opening patient cases or transferring calls to the nurse's phone for any medical inquiry. Maintains efficiency in admission time, notifying clinical staff when patients are waiting to be seen. Assists in screening patients for financial assistance and referring them to the financial counselor or billing staff when needed. Handles cash with accuracy, including collecting payments, recording payment, giving change, providing receipts and balancing cash drawers as outlined. Maintains a high level of cleanliness and organization in the admissions area. Maintains knowledge of hospital policies and available TVHC services. Obtains signed consents from patients to protect TVHC interests. Assists with any other duties as assigned. Assists with any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalency Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Good interpersonal skills including, problem solving skills and ability to handle confrontation Clerical skills including filing and typing with a high level of accuracy. Basic to Intermediate Math Skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Basic to Intermediate computer skill in spreadsheets and word programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a healthcare setting Experience in insurance and/or billing CPR certification preferred Additional languages - Spanish preferred
