Medical Support Assistant:

Responsible for interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA nional scheduling guidelines. Schedules, cancels, and re-schedules pients' appointments and/or consults. Applies discernment and sensitivity when performing tasks required to resolve issues accurely and timely. Utilizes computerized programs and dabases in order to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive informion and various da into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and/or reporting forms. Verifies and updes demographics and insurance informion. Demonstres basic knowledge of the associed medical terminology sufficient to be able to communice effectively with both professional and non-professional employees in a variety of occupions and various levels of responsibility. Complies with Employee Educion requirements by completing mandory annual assignments and with any other training or educion requirements as determined by the supervisor. Shows courtesy, respect, and a positive titude toward pients, co-workers and the public.

Basic Requirements :

Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities . In addition candides must demonstred all of the KSA's below: Ability to opere computerized programs and systems in order to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive medical and pient identifying informion(PII) into or from electronic health records, scheduling systems, and/or reports. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology specific to understand medical diagnosis and procedures sufficient to communice clinical staff instructions to pients. Ability to schedule medical appointments in a clinical setting. Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties performing pient support work. Ability to communice effectively and professionally in person, electronically, and/or by telephone, with [internal and external customers. Skill in customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns, and refer to the approprie staff, as necessary, to ensure a sisfactory resolution.
