Donor Services Coordinator 4745 Haven Point Boulevard, Carmel, IN 46280 From $23 an hour - Part-time From $23 an hour - Part-time Job Summary The Donor Services Coordinator plays a meaningful role in restoring sight and supporting the gift of donation through compassionate donor coordination and medical screening. This position is responsible for managing donor referrals, evaluating medical suitability, and working closely with hospitals, healthcare professionals, and donor families to facilitate eye donation. Coordinators serve as a vital connection between clinical partners and recovery teams, ensuring donations are handled with care, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on patients waiting for sight-restoring transplants while working in a mission-driven healthcare environment. Team members are part of a collaborative organization dedicated to honoring donors, supporting families, and advancing the field of eye banking. The position combines medical review, family advocacy, and healthcare coordination in a fast-paced and rewarding setting where every case contributes to improving lives. Responsibilities Referral Management Receive and assess donor referrals from hospitals, coroner offices, and other referring organizations. Perform initial donor screening through comprehensive review of the potential donor's electronic medical record (EMR) to identify medical suitability, contraindications, and risk factors. Accurately document donor information, including medical history, and referral details. Evaluate initial donor suitability criteria based on established procedures . Communication and Coordination Obtain donor authorization by conducting compassionate discussion with the donor's family and gather detailed medical and social history through a structured interview process. Coordinate recovery logistics and promptly schedule recovery procedures. Manage all forms of communication, including phone calls, emails, and text messages to ensure accurate and timely information exchange. Ensure timely communication and escalation of urgent or complex cases . Medical Record Review & Eligibility Case Coordination Review donor medical records for relevance to donor eligibility. Extract and summarize pertinent clinical information from donor records including medical history, infectious disease indicators, laboratory results, hospital course and physician notes. Flag potential deferrals or risk factors for further review by a Medical Director or Designee. Data Entry and Documentation Input referral and donor data into database with accuracy and attention to detail. Update and maintain records for donor cases, ensuring compliance with established procedures. Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensure call center and donor services activities comply with established procedures. Report and escalate any issues or concerns promptly to manager.
