Job Description

Job Summary:
Greets patients, organizes patient files, and moves patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments at a physician's office.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members Efficiently conducts check-in, check-out, and rescheduling procedures Verfies insurance coverage Collect copays and balances at time of appointment Answers, triages, and appropriately routes incoming calls Explains office policies, insurance coverage, and services available to patients Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider Accurately enters all patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in the Electronic Medical Record (AllScripts) Receives, reviews, and distributes documentation to appropriate staff members in a timely manner Reviews patient schedule for following day and verifies all necessary paperwork is on file. Follows up with patients for any missing documentation Follows established protocols for opening and closing office Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology Familiarity with Allscripts, Epic, CPSI Exceptional customer service skills Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances
