Full Job Description Principal Functions:
Be the first point of contact for patients. Represent Unity positively by providing outstanding customer service, presenting problem solving solutions, and performing detailed collection of data and ensuring accurate input into the Electronic Health Record.Position Duties:
1. Greets patients and their families upon arrival. 2. Collect and correctly enter demographic and identification information into the Electronic Health Record. 3. Obtains billing and insurance information into the Electronic Health Record. 4. Completes reminder calls of upcoming appointments and any payments due on the date of service. 5. Collects patient co-pays and places deposits in the designated area. 6. Collects and assists patients in completing necessary medical documentation including but not limited to general consent and required government forms. 7. Enters orders for lab and radiology procedures. 8. Completes paperwork for lab/blood bank as required. 9. Communicate information and details to members of the medical care team. 10. Responsible for maintaining patient tracking board and communicating with visitors on status updates. 11. Assists patients and visitors with questions and concerns. 12. Answer the phone promptly, receive and relay messages effectively. 13. Manage various types of paperwork ensuring completeness through quality review. 14. Indexes registration paperwork. 15. General cleaning and restocking of supplies. Assists in maintaining cost effectiveness by preventing waste of supplies. 16. Assists in keeping the lobby area clean and clutter free. Includes monitoring snack area. 17. Adheres to Unity Physicians Hospital policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities. Reports observed or suspected violations, hazards, and noncompliance to a supervisor. 18. Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures. 19. Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies. 20. Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences. 21. Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors. 22. Other duties as assigned. High School diploma or equivalent.Experience:
Customer Service, preferably in a medical setting. Basic Medical Terminology Knowledge of various insurance types and ability to verify insurance benefits. EMR proficiency, Working knowledge of ICD-10CM, Microsoft Office Suite Licensure:
None Skills:
Strong administrative and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail with frequent interruptions. Work is frequently performed under pressure. Requires proficiency in math skills to perform calculation of patient accounts and bank deposits. Research skills are essential in locating guarantor information and correcting patient accounts. Requires English language skills adequate for written and interpersonal communication. Requires visual and auditory acuity adequate for frequent use of computers and occasional use of other business office equipment. Ability to sit for long periods and to perform desk and office activities. Working Conditions The employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other hazardous wastes, (i.e. Hepatitis, Aids, and Tuberculosis). Proper precautions will be taught and provided by the hospital. The position requires a considerable amount of walking, stooping, pulling, lifting, feeling, hearing, and repetitive motions.
