Patient Access Representative -
Clinic Location:
Munster, IN Job Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates services by performing patient access, registration, scheduling, insurance verification and predeterminations for patients. Interacts daily with patients, insurance carriers, physicians, and staff. Responsible for the verification and authorization of insurance benefits on patient accounts, through electronic verification systems or through contact. Ensures referrals, authorizations, and predeterminations are submitted in an efficient, timely manner. Pursues account receivable balance resolutions.
Education/Experience Requirements:
High School graduate (or GED equivalent). 1-2 years insurance or medical billing experience. Physician practice setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and
CPT/ICD-9 & 10
coding necessary. Comprehension of government and third party billing regulations required. Must have at least 1 year experience with predetermination processes. Must be able to utilize Microsoft office applications, perform internet navigation and research, and have prior experience using a computerized health information system. Needs to be familiar with operating general office equipment, including but not limited to: scanner; fax machine; photocopy; printer and adding machine. Must demonstrate effective communication and problem solving skills.
