Dental Treatment Coordinator Springmill Family Dental - 5.0 Westfield, IN Job Details Full-time $22 - $26 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Correspondence management Teamwork Medical insurance coverage verification Dental insurance Administrative experience Attention to detail Organizational skills Dental office experience Insurance provider collaboration Patient education Full Job Description Overview The Treatment Coordinator will serve as the practice's treatment plan and insurance coverage expert and will primarily be responsible for ensuring all patients are provided with explanation and education pertaining to proposed dental procedures and their associated costs. This individual will coordinate with Springmill Family Dental, the patient and their insurance provider to determine costing estimates based upon the proposed treatment plan, applicable lab fees and benefits coverage where relevant, facilitated through the submission of predeterminations and calculations based upon the explanation of benefits. The Treatment Coordinator will arrange for payment plans where authorized and will document and track all relevant information including proposed and completed procedures, insurance statements, financial arrangements and payments received. Other administrative duties will be assigned as necessary. Core Competencies Outstanding Customer Service Adaptability Analytical Thinking Excellent Communication Skills Planning and Organizing Problem Solving Responsibilities Educate patients and provide explanation of proposed treatment plans explaining health benefits, costs, timelines, payment options and all other required and relevant information. Obtain up-to-date insurance information from patients in order to ensure initial coverage estimates are accurate. Submit predeterminations with required x-rays and notes from dentists for all major procedures and as requested by the patient. Provide a detailed and accurate explanation of benefits upon receipt from the insurance provider ensuring patient maximums and coordination of benefits have been accounted for. Contact insurance companies as required in order to obtain further explanation or information. Calculate final costs for proposed dental treatment, supplying patients with their estimated portion accounting for insurance coverage and lab fees where applicable. In collaboration with the office manager and the dentist develop financial arrangements for extensive treatment plans where authorized and in accordance with office policy and procedures. Create, maintain track and update required documentation and files pertaining to treatment plans, insurance statements and financial arrangements. Regular reports to monitor case acceptances and follow-ups. Accurately document all patient and insurance payments received. Act as the organization's treatment plan and insurance coverage expert to ensure patient comprehension, answering inquiries and resolving conflicts as they arise. Ensure adherence to the practice's collection protocols. Assist patients with insurance claim submissions as required providing dental codes, x-rays and required information as requested. Other administrative duties as assigned. Requirements 1 year of direct work experience in a Treatment Coordinator capacity required. Previous experience in practice management software such as Open Dental considered an asset. Strong knowledge of dental codes, terminology and dental procedures considered an asset. Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain treatment plans, insurance forms and explanation of benefits. Able to write simple correspondence, letters to patients and other dental professionals, etc. Friendly and professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and clientele. Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
