We offer excellent benefits! Position is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
JOB SUMMARY
Requires extensive contact with patients and/or their representatives concerning patient care and patient accounts in the absence of the patient account representative. Routine contact with insurance carriers, local companies, and physicians' offices and periodic contact with other hospital departments and collection agencies is also necessary.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greets patients when they come in the door Schedule patients for initial DME set ups Responds to telephone inquiries and orders from homecare patients and referral sources and receives patients and referral request by telephone, analyzes request, provides information requested or ascertains who can best provide the information, and routes the request to the proper personnel. Reviews medical records and orders for billable services, verifies insurance and/or other method of payment and obtains authorization when necessary; assigns appropriate DME procedure codes; assesses fees; enters data into medical software system. Processes and reviews orders received for medical equipment, enters all orders into the EMR system, request and analyzes insurance verification and authorization, follows up with the patient and/or physician office accordingly. Coordinates the delivery, set-up and pick-up of equipment, supplies and services with appropriate personnel. Assemble together various forms required by program and service standards to record patient/client information and services rendered to establish medical records. Assemble patient electronic charts; Retrieve and review medical records from staff to ensure that records are complete, forms are in appropriate order and complete, verify appropriate information recorded and work with service staff to complete or update. Assists with maintaining and organization of DME inventory.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision, reports toDME Lead Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public and to remain calm under stress. Ability to work various shifts and overtime as required. Knowledge of all confidentiality requirements regarding patients and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all such information. Must be able to type at least 55-60 wpm and use 10-key calculator. Knowledge of medical office ethics, experience and familiar with ICD9, HCPC and CPT codes and medical terminology. Previous experience with computer terminals preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.Education/Experience:
