Job Summary:
We are hiring Patient Care Specialists (PCS) to provide product education and ensure an excellent purchasing experience for our patients. In this role, you will be responsible for making recommendations and ensuring all sales are completed in compliance with state and local cannabis regulations. Additionally, you will maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment to enhance the shopping experience.

Full-Time (4-6 Openings) Part-Time (8-10 Openings)
Pay Rate:
$19/hour Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as retail needs dictate.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet customers, verify valid ID, and provide a welcoming, professional experience Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate cannabis products based on desired effects, experience level, and preferences Educate customers on product types, cannabinoid/terpene profiles, dosing, and safe consumption practices Maintain thorough knowledge of current inventory, new products, brands, promotions, and pricing Ensure all sales follow MCA regulations, including possession limits and required documentation Accurately process transactions using the POS (Dutchie) and Metrc and handle cash responsibly Assist with inventory tasks such as receiving shipments, restocking shelves, and participating in cycle counts Keep the sales floor, displays, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with dispensary standards Resolve customer issues professionally and escalate when needed to management Follow all dispensary SOPs, safety protocols, and compliance procedures consistently
Minor Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of ongoing promotions and loyalty programs and explain them to customers Assist with packaging, labeling, or preparing online/call-ahead orders for pickup Help organize marketing displays, menus, and product signage Support cleanliness tasks such as sweeping, sanitizing counters, and tidying storage areas Monitor product expiration dates and rotate stock as needed Assist with back-of-house tasks like breaking down boxes or disposing of packaging properly Participate in ongoing training sessions and product demos hosted by vendors Communicate customer feedback or product issues to management Help maintain an organized break room or staff workspace Step in to support front desk/reception staff during busy times if needed

Customer Service & Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to assess patient needs and provide a welcoming, high-level service experience.
Operational & Technical Proficiency:
High proficiency in accurately processing transactions using POS systems (Dutchie) and state tracking systems (Metrc), including strict attention to detail in cash handling
Product Expertise & Sales :
Deep understanding of product types, cannabinoid/terpene profiles, dosing strategies, and safe consumption practices to make effective, education-based recommendations.
Work Ethic & Autonomy :
Highly proactive problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills; able to work independently and adapt quickly to daily inventory changes.
Regulatory Compliance:
Comprehensive awareness of Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) regulations, including ID verification protocols and possession limits.
Education, Training, and Professional Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. 1+ year of customer-facing experience in a fast-paced retail or hospitality environment. Previous experience handling high volumes of cash and using a POS system is required Formal cannabis education (e.g., certificates) is a plus, but a genuine passion for the plant and a willingness to self-educate on terpene profiles and cannabinoids is required Strict adherence to all MCA (Maryland Cannabis Administration) regulations, including verifying valid IDs and enforcing possession limits on every transaction. Willingness to learn new menus quickly as inventory changes daily. Must complete the state-mandated annual Responsible Vendor Training (RVT) focused on safety and compliance. Must be able to obtain a Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) Agent ID (includes a background check and fingerprinting). Physical ability to walk, use a step ladder occasionally, and move boxes (<25 lbs) Must be 21+ years of age.
