277280 The Patient Services Intermediate (PSI) provides experienced clerical and administrative support within the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center (FDTC), a highly specialized multidisciplinary clinic. This role serves as a clerical resource for the department, supporting daily operations, coordinating complex patient scheduling, and ensuring seamless communication among patients, families, providers, and referring physicians. Under the supervision of the Administrative Manager Intermediate, the PSI plays a vital role in maintaining continuity of operations, accuracy of processes, and quality of patient experience. Coordinate complex, multidisciplinary scheduling involving Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Nursing and Genetics team members. Ensure excellent communication and timely follow-up for patients, families, and referring providers. Manage insurance pre-authorizations, billing reconciliation, and related financial documentation. Support care coordination and patient navigation, helping families manage scheduling logistics across multiple specialties. Submit service and maintenance requests Participate in daily huddles and process improvement discussions Promote and model positive communication, teamwork, and service excellence across the FDTC. Ensure compliance with departmental policies, HIPAA requirements, and Michigan Medicine standards. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum five (5) years of clerical or administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate team activities. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn clinical information systems. Experience within a large, complex health system or academic medical center. Familiarity with MiChart (Epic) or equivalent electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of University of Michigan policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Experience coordinating a patient?s continuum of care and identifying appropriate support resources. Proven ability to anticipate patient and provider needs, assist with navigation, and resolve service barriers. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
