Performance Work Statement for Medical Officer of the Day Services 1.

GENERAL:

The Contractor shall provide 2.95 FTE Medical Officer of Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice and must have inpatient and outpatient experience. Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Hours of operation 6:00 pm to 7:00 am Monday through Thursday and 6:00 pm Friday through 7:00 Am Monday (the entire Weekend) and all federal holidays. Location 5500 Armstrong Road Battlecreek Michigan 49037 Duties Conduct detailed physical examinations and patient assessments to determine medical conditions and prioritize care needs. Manage airway patency and perform airway management techniques during emergencies. Administer medications via injections and other routes following proper aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs continuously and interpret physiological data to inform treatment decisions. Provide emergency medicine interventions, including trauma management at Level I Trauma Center standards. Perform venipuncture for blood sampling and facilitate laboratory testing as required. Assist in critical care transport operations, ensuring patient stability during transfers. Execute patient triage efficiently, identifying urgent cases requiring immediate attention. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, procedures performed, and medication administration. Adhere strictly to hospital protocols, medical terminology standards, and infection control procedures. Support multidisciplinary teams in delivering comprehensive healthcare services across various departments. Skills Proven critical care experience within hospital settings, particularly in emergency or trauma units. Extensive hospital experience with proficiency in triage and urgent care procedures. Familiarity with Level II trauma center protocols and Level I Trauma Center standards. Hands-on EMT experience with skills in airway management, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment. Competence in DME (Durable Medical Equipment) handling and medication administration techniques. Skilled in performing physical examinations, venipuncture, and injection administration with precision. Ability to operate effectively under pressure in emergency medicine scenarios while maintaining professionalism. Excellent communication skills for clear documentation and collaboration with healthcare teams. Physical stamina for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or moving patients as necessary. Valid driving license with the ability to respond swiftly to urgent situations requiring transportation.
