Job Description

SUMMARY The
CENTRAL PATIENT REGISTRATION
is responsible for the accurate and efficient registration of patients into RPMS and gathering of information for patients receiving services at all GTB Health System locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED certificate. Must have at least one year of experience in an office or medical setting with database development and management. Must understand medical terminology. Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License and be insurable by the GTB insurance carrier. Must have great Customer Service
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain accurate and updated patient information. Register patients accurately and in a timely manner into RPMS, Dentrix and Moonwalk system making sure all information is correct, insurances are verified at or prior to the time of patients receiving services, and all registration forms are completed with applicable signatures and documentation. Ensures that all patients sign current release forms as required for HIPAA compliance. Responsible for verification of current medical insurance coverage utilizing necessary web-based sites, prior to or at time of patient receiving services Works closely with the Benefits Coordinator. Interviews incoming patients as necessary to gather necessary patient information. Obtains assistance for patients as needed. Assures gathered information is correctly entered into RPMS and Dentrix and other relevant systems to ensure a complete registration for user population purposes and accurate billing. Assures completion of paperwork and accuracy and explains facility policies, preparing patients for services. Reports to work promptly as front-line employee of the clinic to include reporting time and end of the day adjusting schedule to meet the extended hours of operation. Must always maintain patient confidentiality. Follows all patient registration policies and procedures Greets patients in a timely manner either in person or on the phone and email. Work with Clinic Administration Supervisor to ensure patients are eligible for Clinic services prior to being served. Attend workshops and seminars for professional development. Coordinates with Health Services sub departments to ensure Patient/Client are eligible for service prior to being served. Consults with staff and management regarding eligibility and registration issues. Same as above (works with RPMS.) Keeps updated regarding "user pop" and eligibility issues/trends. Educations other GTB personnel about new guidelines, regulations, etc. Attend trainings as required, such as HIPAA Attend meetings as requested by supervisor(s). Assist other staff as needed and accept other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact and respect. Must have exceptional detail and follow-up skills. Must have proven proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite and the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) and Dentrix. Input and provide statistical data for all health programs on a regular basis. Maintain accurate and updated patient information. Assist clients in completing registration process in accordance with Department policy. Adherence to medical/universal precautions in accordance with GTB Health Services Policies and Procedures. Ability to multi-task and to prioritize duties and assignments appropriately and effectively. Must always follow all Department policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED certificate. Must have at least one year of experience in a Medical office setting. Understanding medical terminology and/or willing to be trained.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must cross train in the following areas: Scheduling of patients according to RPMS-Dentrix and required data entry program Patient intake Data entry Basic Purchased Referred Care knowledge Ensure all 3rd party payers' resources are identified Basic understanding of benefits coordination.
REASONING ABILITY
Must possess the ability to listen effectively to patient needs and exercise good judgment in directing patients. Must be compassionate to those less fortunate and in need, and sensitive to cultural and traditional methods.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
There will be requirements of sitting, walking reaching and some lifting. Able to lift twenty-five pounds to carry and re-file charts. Manual dexterity is necessary for the use of office equipment. Need to be in good physical and mental health. Assisting patients may be required from time to time.
COMMENTS
Native American Preference will apply. Must be willing and able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Adherence to strict company policy regarding confidentiality is a must.
