Full Job Description Responsibilities/Job Description:
Fairview is seeking a motivated Laboratory Unit Coordinator at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. This is a part-time, benefit-eligible day position, working 48 hours/2 week pay period (0.6 FTE), including six 8-hour shifts with start times from 6:00am-9:15am and every other weekend. This position includes 3 holiday shifts per year. Schedule week one of the pay period: Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Schedule week two of the pay period: Monday, Tuesday. This schedule also has 1 floating day shift per pay period. The Clinical Laboratory Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in the operation of the outpatient lab as well as specimen receiving and processing. They facilitate the flow of information between the Lab and the other health care units within the hospital as well as registration, physicians, clinics, homecare agencies, reference labs, patients, and their families. Responsibilities Responsible for the coordination and flow of outpatient laboratory services and phlebotomy: Registers patients into the LIS computer system. Verifies patient demographics and billing/insurance information. Performs functions associated with accurately transcribing physician orders, receiving & ordering laboratory tests into the LIS computer system in a timely manner. Greets and assists patients/families, healthcare workers and provides excellent customer service Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Processes and triages laboratory specimens. Supports physicians, PCUs, homecare, clinics, patients/families, reference librarians and employees by responding to triaging, when necessary, all incoming phone calls. Responds to inquiries about lab processes. Effectively and accurately communicates lab results to physicians, hospital staff, clinics, and patients. Multi tasks and exercises independent thinking and skills. Participates actively in department problem solving. Maintains office supplies and equipment. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED or equivalent or higher degree. Clerical, computer, and customer service experience. Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Preferred Qualifications
A.A./A.S.
degree or Vocational School certificate Knowledge of medical terminology. 1 year clerical and customer service experience in a laboratory setting.
Qualifications:
$22.96- $32.42 Hourly
