Job Description

Patient Access Representative Responsible for patient-facing registration and other associated tasks like information collection, validation, and requisitioning of orders and services. Participates in Insurance-related tasks including, but not limited to verification, collection of co-payments, and collection of associated paperwork. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and protocols. Acts as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and other related stakeholders for all post-care matters related to account resolution.
Principal Accountabilities:
(including but not limited to) The Patient Access Representative (PAR) plays a vital role in the patient and family experience, serving as an initial point of contact within our health system Securing accurate information, Interpreting and communicating patient responsibility Obtaining accurate patient identification is essential for the financial and operational success of the organization Greeting customers with a smile and address customers by name in a courteous, respectful and professional manner Attempting to resolve customer questions and concerns Adapting to changes in the work environment Meeting shift expectations Handling challenging customers Obtains and verifies patient information for registration Maintains contact with third-party payers to determine reasons for outstanding claims and communicates to facilitate speedy payment of claims Requests payment of financial dues from patient or guarantors Obtains federally required and hospital related consents in a timely manner Reconciles daily bank bags and posts dues collected and/or data entry or charge codes within the financial system. Ensures compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and works in various patient settings and locations Performs other related duties as assigned
Required:
HS Diploma or equivalent Ability to lift more than 25lbs if needed
Preferred:
Customer service experience Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably EPIC Minimum of 1+ years of experience in Patient Access, Medical Office, Health Insurance or relevant area.
