Turnersville Summary:
The
PET/CT PCA
provides essential clinical and operational support to the PET/CT team, ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-centered imaging experience. This role works under the direction of technologists and clinical staff to support patient preparation, monitoring, and workflow execution. Key Responsibilities Patient Preparation & Support Prepare patients for PET/CT examinations, including explaining basic procedures and addressing patient comfort needs Assist patients with changing and positioning prior to imaging studies Ensure adherence to pre-procedure protocols (e.g., schedule scrubbing, fasting confirmation, screening checklists) Point-of-Care Testing Perform finger stick blood glucose testing in accordance with established clinical protocols Accurately document and communicate results to the PET/CT technologist or supervising clinical staff Escalate abnormal findings per departmental guidelines Patient Monitoring & Safety Observe patients for signs of distress or adverse reactions and promptly report concerns Maintain patient safety and dignity throughout the visit Support infection control and safety standards, including proper use of PPE and equipment cleaning Workflow & Operational Support Assist with patient flow to ensure timely exam start times and efficient throughput Prepare rooms and supplies for PET/CT procedures Coordinate with technologists, nursing, and front-end staff to maintain seamless operations Compliance & Documentation Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and organizational policies (e.g., HIPAA, infection control, radiology safety) Ensure accurate and timely documentation of tasks performed within the EMR or designated systems Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior clinical support or patient care experience preferred (radiology or hospital setting a plus) Demonstrated competency or training in point-of-care testing (finger sticks) preferred or required within defined onboarding period (medical assistant experience preferred) Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Physical & Work Requirements Ability to assist patients with mobility and positioning Standing, walking, and light lifting may be required Comfortable working in a clinical imaging environment Working Conditions - Indoor office setting with daily patient contact. There is the potential of exposure to blood and other body fluids.
