Job Description

OPS Registration Rep / Outpatient Surgery / Per Diem The Registration Representative (heretofore Registrar) provides personal care and professional excellence by arranging the efficient and orderly admission of patients. He/she ensures that accurate patient information is collected and entered into the clinical database, and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. The Registrar assists in the operation of the clinical database by registering and scheduling unit patients, as well as routine user-level computer maintenance.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Courteously answers and responds correctly to phone calls. Addresses concerns and dispatches messages as appropriate. Greets, directs, and escorts patients and visitors to the unit. Assists in assembling, filing, and managing the patient health record, whether hardcopy or electronic. Registers and schedules patients accurately and efficiently in the clinical database. Communicates and coordinates with clinical staff regarding scheduling changes, conflicts, and the arrival of patients. Prepares, copies, and/or sends medical information by fax or email as required by the unit, and in accordance with HIPAA policies. Accurately gathers and/or posts daily charges. Acts as a liaison between unit and referring/partner offices. Collects data and runs reports as directed by the unit manager. Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
