  • Port Clinton, OH Patient Access Department About the Role We're hiring a Patient Access Associate to support accurate patient registration and deliver an exceptional check-in experience.
In this role, you'll ensure complete demographic and insurance information, verify medical necessity, and serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients. This position plays a key role in smooth hospital operations and high-quality patient access. What You'll Do Patient Registration & Intake
  • Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance, and medical details to support accurate care
  • Register and discharge patients in Cerner with high accuracy
  • Complete Medicare questionnaires, required notices, and consent documentation
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations for treatment Patient Experience & Communication
  • Use AIDET communication principles to guide patients through next steps
  • Greet and assist patients at assigned entrances and lobbies
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Communicate patient or departmental issues to leadership for timely resolution
  • Review physician orders for accuracy, validity, and required signatures
  • Notify clinical teams of special patient circumstances (VA benefits, no ID, BWC, etc.) Systems & Documentation Management
  • Scan, verify, and maintain required documentation in the electronic record
  • Use computerized tools to check medical necessity for outpatient testing

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service skills with clear verbal and written communication
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced or high-stress environments
  • Proficiency with data entry and navigating multiple computer systems Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare registration or patient access
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, auto, Workers' Compensation)
