Medical Records Clerk 3101 Elks Dr, McAlester, OK 74501 From $15.52 an hour - Full-time From $15.52 an hour - Full-time Job Description
  • Sorts all incoming faxes daily into the correct files for clinic use, ensuring the faxes are always filed in the correct patient or provider file
  • Assures that all HIPAA procedures are followed when accessing faxes, scans and records
  • Files all in-house scans to correct patient file daily
  • Maintains quality results by following clinic standards.
  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential.
  • Serves and protects the clinic community by adhering to professional standards, clinic policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards.
  • Enhances medical records and clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Referral and transition coordination includes the following activities
  • Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety using Azara.
  • Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to specialist.
  • Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met if needed. Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis and prognosis. Provide specific medical information to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and physicians.
  • Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
  • Be the system navigator and point of contact for patients and families, with patients and families having direct access for asking questions and raising concerns regarding referrals.
  • Identify and utilize cultural and community resources. Establish and maintain relationships with identified service providers.
  • Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
