Job Description:

PURPOSE OF JOB

Provides clerical support services to maintain the efficient operation of the Women's Diagnostic Center. Registers patients. Acts as a liaison/resource person between internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Greets patients and department visitors. Answers incoming telephone calls. Completes appointment reminder calls as needed. Registers all patients into hospital computer system. Utilizes cost estimator tool to determine patient's copay/co-insurance financial responsibility. Collects co-pay/co-insurance at time of service. Responsible for retrieving referrals and prior authorizations and documenting in the account. Knowledge of clerical procedures for processing and releasing patient records.

Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School and or commercial school graduate.

Experience:

Prior receptionist, registration or scheduler in medical field.

Other Skills:

Good communication skills. Proficient computer skills. Ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Ability to work well with patients and meet their needs.
