Job Description

a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Join UPMC's Bayfront ENT office as an Office Assistant I and play a key role in delivering a positive, efficient experience for every patient. In this fast-paced position, you will support scheduling, registration, and front desk operations while collaborating with providers and staff to ensure seamless care. Prior medical office or front desk experience is preferred, and we welcome candidates who are organized, professional, and passionate about patient service to apply. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday with shifts scheduled between 7:30am and 5:00pm. Occasional Saturday's may be required from 7:00am to 12:00pm based on staffing needs. No holidays or evenings are required. Title and starting pay rate of this position may vary based on years of experience.
Responsibilities:
Verify necessary information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system. Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient's appointments. Relay necessary messages to staff and providers. Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provide any necessary instructions/directions. Inform appropriate department/person of person's arrival performing appropriate check-in and check-out functions. Maintain clean, orderly waiting area including beverage area and reading materials. Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments. Answer telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information. Maintain and update current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed. Complete necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals. Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing. Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing. Complies with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/ reconciliation and other tasks.
