Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks related to patient care. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and billing processes. Experience with clinic operations, insurance verification, and medical coding is highly valued to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally at the front desk, managing multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette. Schedule patient appointments using EMR system Intergy. Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers, ensuring accurate insurance verification. Collect payments and perform medical collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review and update patient records, ensuring accuracy in documentation review and medical records management. Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards. Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records. Provide front desk support including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and handling multi-line phone inquiries efficiently. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and ensure excellent patient service experience. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment; experience preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing practices. Ability to handle insurance verification processes accurately and efficiently. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and typing skills (including 10 key typing). Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards. Previous experience with hospital or clinic administrative support is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record keeping.
