OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
This position is responsible for ensuring that all bills are filed in a timely and compliant manner with the appropriate payor. This position is responsible for maximizing WMC's cash flow by following up with insurance companies and patients on unpaid balances. Also, the position is the primary contact with patients and is responsible for answering payment questions and resolving payment disputes in a friendly and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
(other duties may be assigned) Complete routine daily billing activities. Re-bill those accounts with late charges. Review and take action on aging reports. Prepare secondary billing. Answer telephones. Handle all incoming mail. Perform collection on overdue bills.
QUALIFICATIONS
A.
Education/Training/License/Certification:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Certificate/diploma in Medical Billing/Coding preferred. B.
Work Experience:
One year experience in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 4. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 6. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 7. Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills. 8. Knowledge of medical terms. 9. Experience utilizing computers and typing. 10. Ability to operate office machines. 11. Knowledge of all government rules and regulations for all insurances. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
