JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for managing Trauma Registry activities and facilitating continuous quality assessment and improvement in the delivery of trauma care by data collection, data management, data analysis and reporting of trauma program activities and results.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Department of Acute Care Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care provides exceptional, state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary care for adults and children who require urgent or emergency surgery because of an accident or sudden illness. This care often begins before the patient arrives and continues throughout the patient's hospitalization and following discharge.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years experience in healthcare required. Experience must include a detailed knowledge of medical terminology and medical records. One (1) year directly related work experience abstracting and coding information using
ICD-10 CM
inpatient coding required. The following is required within one (1) year of hire: Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) training. Successful completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar Course. Successful completion of an anatomy course preferred. Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding experience preferred. Certified Trauma registrar and CCA (Certified Coding Specialist) preferred.
