Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Job Summary This position will collect and verify all patient demographic and financial information while adhering to ethical and legal standards and recognizing and responding to emergencies while demonstrating professional characteristics.
Responsibilities include:
Register and admit patients by obtaining relevant patient demographic and insurance information. Greet, direct and provide information to patients and visitors. Answer incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department. Retrieve patient medical information from referring provider if applicable. Organize, file and retrieve all medical records Responsible for the mailing of provider correspondence. Collect and post payments for services. Other duties may be assigned.
