Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Office Assistant/Billing Specialist! In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of efficient medical practice operations, combining front-office support with accurate billing and coding. Your energetic approach will ensure smooth patient interactions, precise medical documentation, and seamless billing processes. You will play a key role in managing medical records, coding diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring timely reimbursement through meticulous billing practices. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures to foster a positive patient experience Manage appointment scheduling using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to optimize provider schedules Collect patient information accurately, update medical records, and ensure confidentiality in compliance with privacy regulations Perform medical coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes to ensure precise billing and documentation Review and process insurance claims, verifying coverage details and submitting claims electronically or via paper submissions Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies to maximize revenue Maintain thorough knowledge of medical terminology, billing regulations, and coding updates to ensure compliance and accuracy Experience Proven experience in a medical office setting with a strong background in medical billing and coding Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records and documentation workflows Knowledge of ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems—ICD-9 and ICD-10—and CPT coding for procedures Understanding of DRG classifications used in hospital billing processes Experience handling medical collections, insurance verifications, and claim submissions Strong grasp of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment Join us to make a meaningful impact by ensuring accurate billing processes while providing compassionate support to our patients.
