Job Description:
Monday - Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm) Screens application submissions to ensure completeness and accuracy. Contacts patients to request or complete necessary information for application review. Faxes or scans paperwork to medical offices or physician offices as required. Obtains insurance information and forwards it to financial personnel. Scans, enters, and updates patient records in the database. Conducts phone interviews and accurately enters information into medical history intake forms. Ensures patient appointments are scheduled and completed according to department standards. Pre-schedules educational classes for patients and follows up with phone calls as necessary. Mails program materials to patients and healthcare providers. Coordinates the collection of tests, reports, and dictations necessary for patient evaluation and referral.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional communication and organizational skills. [Required] Proficiency in using computer, word processing, and email system. Secretarial skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook. [Required] Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing program needs [Required] Adaptable, with professional appearance and friendly personality. [Required] Able to promote the highest quality of service with a spirit of willingness and cooperation to both patients and staff. [Required] Able to work independently and accurately, using good judgment in all situations, and possessing communication and organizational skills. [Required] Able to maintain confidentiality in accordance with Hospital policy and HIPAA regulations. [Required] General knowledge of health insurance authorization process, billing codes and approved medical abbreviations. [Required] EPIC functionality [Preferred] Familiarity with Orthopedic and Spine procedures and care plans [Preferred]
Education:
High School Grad or GED [Required]
Work Experience:
1+ experience working in healthcare setting [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) [Preferred] American Association Medical Assistants (CMA) [Preferred] OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) [Preferred] OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) [Preferred] OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) [Preferred] OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) [Preferred] OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) [Preferred]
