POSITION SUMMARY
The Neuro-Hospitalist Patient Care Associate provides dedicated mobile support to the TIND Neuro-Hospitalist team at Texoma Medical Center, following providers through daily hospital rounding and serving as an extension of the care team across all patient encounters. This individual moves fluidly through the inpatient environment alongside rotating Neuro-Hospitalist providers, supporting real-time clinical documentation, charge capture, MA-level clinical assistance, and discharge follow-up scheduling. This is a fast-paced, high-volume inpatient role that requires someone who is organized, clinically confident, and comfortable adapting to rotating providers on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate is an experienced Medical Assistant or equivalent who thrives in a hospital environment and takes ownership of both the administrative and patient-facing responsibilities that keep the hospitalist team running efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Documentation & Charge Capture Accompany Neuro-Hospitalist providers during all hospital rounding, documenting patient encounters in real time within the EMR Complete accurate, detailed chart notes and ensure timely finalization following each encounter Enter billing charges and support charge capture workflows to ensure complete and accurate documentation for every patient seen Assist with electronic prescribing and clinical documentation tasks as directed by the provider MA-Level Clinical Support Provide medical assistant support to Neuro-Hospitalist providers during rounding as needed, including patient intake, vitals documentation, and other clinical duties within scope Anticipate provider needs during rounds and proactively support workflow efficiency across all patient encounters Collaborate with hospital nursing staff, care coordinators, and other members of the inpatient care team Discharge Follow-Up Scheduling Facilitate follow-up appointment scheduling for patients being discharged, in accordance with the treating provider's clinical recommendation and patient preference Coordinate with outpatient clinic scheduling teams to ensure timely access when follow-up care is clinically indicated Communicate appointment details clearly to patients and families prior to discharge General Maintain a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency in a high-volume inpatient environment Adapt effectively to weekly provider rotation and shifting patient volumes Follow all practice protocols, compliance standards, and documentation requirements Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or in an equivalent clinical support role - hospital or inpatient experience strongly preferred CMA or RMA certification preferred; candidates with substantial equivalent clinical experience will be considered Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation Experience with EMR systems; eCW, neurology or hospital-based EMR experience a plus Demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining documentation accuracy Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams Ability to adapt to rotating providers and variable daily workflows Reliable, punctual, and committed to a Sunday - Thursday schedule Preferred Prior experience in a hospital or inpatient setting Familiarity with neurology, stroke, or neurological condition management Experience with charge capture or billing support workflows Bilingual (English/Spanish)
