Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in front office operations, including scheduling, insurance verification, payment monitoring, and referral coordination. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients in a friendly, professional manner Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments efficiently Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to visits Collect, post, and reconcile patient payments, copays, and balances Monitor outstanding balances and assist with payment follow-up Process and track referrals, including obtaining prior authorizations as needed Maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies Support clinical and administrative staff as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a medical office or receptionist role preferred Knowledge of insurance verification and referral processes strongly preferred Familiarity with EMR systems (Sevocity or similar) is a plus Strong communication and customer service skills Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred
