Job Description

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for maintaining the Hospital Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Registries at our Level 1 Trauma Center. This includes all performance improvement issues related to the Registries including upgrades and data analysis. Acts as a liaison with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Case Managers, University of Vermont researchers, and others to provide reports of Registry data as approved by the Trauma Medical Director. Responsible for comprehensive data collection, coding, and data entry for all trauma and emergency general surgery related admissions. Collects trauma and emergency general surgery related data for injury research, epidemiology, and performance improvement. Provides secretarial support to Trauma staff as appropriate.
Education:
High School Diploma. Trauma Registry Certification Preferred and required within 3 years of employment. AIS scoring experience preferred and certification required within 3 years of employment. ICD10 Coding experience preferred.
Experience:
Advanced education or training in medical records or medical secretary with experience in trauma related field. Must be self-motivated and capable of working cooperatively in a small group. Education in Anatomy and previous coding experience or certification desirable.
