This is a Full-Time position consisting of 40 hours per week, 0900-1900.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Acute Care Unit Coordinator provides non-clinical clerical and administrative support to the Acute Care nursing unit to ensure efficient unit operations, accurate patient registration, effective communication, and coordination of services. This position supports patient care delivery by performing organizational, communication, and documentation-related tasks under the direction of licensed nursing and medical staff. This position does not provide clinical care or perform duties requiring licensure. The position may be cross trained to provide coverage in the Emergency Department, hospital front desk registration, or other areas as operational needs require.
EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE 1.
High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Previous healthcare admission/registration experience, medical billing experience helpful. 3. Ability to input data into computer with accuracy, utilizing proper spelling and grammar. 4. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. 5. Ability to prioritize multiple duties in a fast-paced environment since the performance and concentration of several tasks may be required simultaneously. 6. Requires knowledge of basic accounting for the purpose of handling cash transactions and updating accounts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Answers and routes incoming phone calls in a professional and timely manner. Greets and assists visitors in accordance with hospital visitation policy. Maintains organization of the nurses' station and unit workflow. Assembles, maintains, and organizes physical patient charts when applicable. Ensures required chart forms are present and signed per hospital policy. Facilitates communication between physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and external providers. Places non-clinical phone calls on behalf of providers or nursing staff as directed. Tracks and communicates consult requests as directed by nursing and medical staff. Maintains unit logs, census lists, and communication boards as applicable. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer paperwork preparation (clerical only). Faxes, scans, copies, and distributes documents as directed. Accurately registers patients in the electronic health record (EHR). Verifies demographic and insurance information. Obtains required patient signatures on consent, financial forms and other required forms. Ensures required regulatory documents are completed at registration. Follows EMTALA-compliant processes. Maintains strict patient confidentiality in compliance with
