Job Description

We are looking for a professional with a friendly attitude and the ability to multitask to serve as our company's Bilingual Office Assistant. Rock River Community Clinic is a non-profit community health center that provides cost-effective and comprehensive health care services through clinics located in Johnson Creek, Whitewater and Watertown. We work diligently to ensure all community members have access to health care and serve as a safety-net clinic for families in need. In this position, you will play a key role by performing various administrative and clerical tasks. You should be comfortable undertaking a variety of activities in the office, including filing, answering the phone, scheduling patients, organizing documents, basic bookkeeping, and more. Reliability and a strong work ethic combined with great communication and computer skills are a must, as well as familiarity with all necessary office equipment, software, and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Promotes seamless care to the patient by communicating effectively the RRCC's values with staff, patients, and providers. Professionally answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs phone calls based on the clinic process in a timely manner. Greets all persons entering the clinic and provides assistance based on their needs. Collects and enters patient information in the electronic health record in a timely manner to ensure an accurate registration and scheduling process. Enters insurance information accurately to verify and obtain current eligibility. Collects payments on accounts and insurance co-payments. Creates receipts, reconciles daily collections, and maintains cash drawers according to business office protocols. Maintains and monitors the computerized appointment schedule throughout the continuum of care. Assists patients and/or families to access financial resources and care navigator services. Is available to patients and families to answer questions regarding their insurance, give estimates of co-pay amounts, and to aid patients in obtaining prior authorizations for services, etc. Assists with patient rescheduling and contacting no-shows when requiring; completing patient logs and maintains updated patient tracking (no-shows) Connects internal and external messages to facilitate communication with patients, partnerships, and staff. Manages faxing, scanning, and coding procedures for managing insurance and patient records and working with HIM. Adheres to all policies, laws, standards and/or regulations established by federal and state regulatory agencies and/or governing bodies in the course of performing job duties. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality. Practices infection control techniques. Prioritizes multiple situations, tasks, and requests. Performs other duties as assigned. Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position.

Education/Learning Experience Required:
High school graduates or equivalent
Work Experience Preferred:
One or two years of medical office experience preferred
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, co-workers and the public. Electronic scheduling and registration experience.
Licenses/Certifications Required:
BLS or Heartsaver certification once hired

Must be able to work in close-quartered, fast-paced medical environment. Possess the ability to cope with stress and criticism. Basic math skills.

Exposures:
Possible exposure to blood or other body fluids and potentially infectious materials. Possible exposure to communicable diseases or infections. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Gloves and masks as necessary, potential respirators. Must be fit tested.
