Job Description

Job Summary Accountable for interviewing the incoming patient or patient representative, recording the information required for admission, and assigning the patient to an available room. Responsibilities
  • Differentiate between patients in need of immediate medical attention and those with minor injuries/illness.
  • Interview patients to secure and verify all pertinent admitting data.
  • Enter patient data into CAMC's Central Computer System.
  • Prepare the necessary forms in order for patients to receive diagnostic and/or therapeutic treatment.
  • Assign beds based on the nature of the illness or the type of accommodation available.
  • Sort, file, and distribute patient records. Prepare and disburse admitting forms and related materials.
  • Perform clerical and receptionist duties as necessary. Escort patients and push wheelchairs. Maintain a patient census log and prepare a statistical report monthly.
  • Maintain equipment, lift boxes of supplies-printer paper.
  • Notify the Police or Health Department for the patient as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1. Maintain and document all applicable required education. 2. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company's attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned. Education High School Diploma or GED (Required)
