Jefferson Regional Respiratory Therapy DepartmentJob Summary:

A registered respiratory therapist assesses and treats patients with breathing disorders, such as but not limited to asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia. They administer respiratory treatments, conduct diagnostic test, and educate patients on breathing techniques and equipment use. Additionally, they collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical diploma in Respiratory Therapy is required. Associate or Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.

Graduate for an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy programCurrent license with the Arkansas State Medical Board and Registered through the Nation Board of Respiratory Care RRT credential required

Regulatory Requirements:

BLS required upon hire or before patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire, PALS/NRP preferredStrong communication skillsAbility to work well under pressureAbility to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and other respiratory therapistsAssess patient needs and adjust treatment plans as necessaryMust be self motivated, have the ability to work independently, maintain a high level of accuracy, and have the ability to handle confidential material2+ years hospital experience preferred1+ years of respiratory therapy experience preferredExperience in critical care and/ or neonatal care areas preferredProficiency in various respiratory therapy techniques preferredExperience in an acute care setting preferred
